WELDING

WELDING
In the MARINE ENGINEERING there will be welding jobs so for the past couple of weeks we have been welding, and we have also been learning the different techniques and the right way of welding. Then we were taught how to brass and the procedures, also i was shown and taught how to set my welding plant and the right way of holding the welding torch. Also taught the different types of  welding.i.e.mig and tig/Arc welding and Gas welding. Also welding is properly the most dangerous jobs there is in the industry because most welding is done in confined space. The smallest mistake could cause fatal consequences. So when welding always know proper procedure and health and safety for yourself.

COMPONENTS/ GAS WELDING

FLASHBACK RESET VALVE
This is the flash back reset valve it stops any flame or flashbacks from getting in the main valve and starting a fire. When at the time there is a flashback, the flashback valve will automatically shut off gas and flick and when it does u shut the whole plant off. That way giving you time to reset the flashback valve.

 GAS BOTTLES
There are Two main bottles that are used for gas welding. One bottle is the oxygen bottles which is black is a major requirement the both bottles are color coded for health and safety. Also the Acetylene is Maroon or red and most be in a upright position every time . Make sure that both bottle are secured when in use.

WELDING TORCH
The torch is used to mix the two gases and were the flame is ignited and when ignited there are three different types of flame neutral flame, oxidizing flame and carb flame. also most welding is done with the neutral flame. Also if not handled properly the welding torch can cause major injury or could be burned badly.

Welding PLANT

When you are setting your plants you must first place the regulator plants onto the gas bottles before use. Also make sure never to use oil or on the threads as it can start a combustion in which causing a fire. When shutting down plant fully turn the main valves off then t urn on valves on torch fully releasing any left over acetylene and oxygen.

TIPS

There are also different types of welding tips depending on what it is needed for  and the type of job there are also tips that are used to cut metal and others that help fuse metal. So there are a variety of tips for use.
